Buried No More
"Tetelestai!" and I Walk Free
A Good Friday Reflection
A short meditation in poem form for Good Friday—journeying from darkness to the light of His finished work.
“…‘It is finished,’…” (John 19:30, ESV)
Unmired
I crawl to Him dragging mortal mud, layered and caked heavy with time, stuck, stuck. Face down defeated, despairing, spent, done. Darkness descends, Shadows surround, no way out. No way out! “Tetelestai!” I look up— grace wounds, His open heart pours, pours divine blood and living water, washing away (washing away!) the clinging clay I tried to hide. Freedom carved into flesh for those made of earth, of dirt. Now I can stand in the light from The Only Rising Son— unmired, cleansed, cleansed. It. IS. Finished. Astonished, I walk free, (walk free!) “He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.” (Ps. 40:2, ESV)
