Just Come: God's Invitation to Rest
For Anyone Who Needs Stillness, Comfort, and Peace in His Presence
Author Note:
Blessings to you during this busy Christmas season!
In this last weekend of preparations before the celebrations, I’m finding myself in an enforced season of rest due to a painful “trigger thumb". (Which isn’t easy for a writer, or when you’re hosting family).
I’m hearing the Lord’s gentle whispers in my soul to remind me (us) of the importance of coming to Him for our renewal and strength. . .
Whether we find ourselves navigating a time of peace and love, or grief and strife, Jesus invites us to simply “Come.” And rest.
The Invitation
Come—
Just come.
Come willing.
Be still.
Please come.
Lay that down.
Don’t put it off!
And come—
for nourishment,
Come for care,
Come to be seen
Or mend that tear.
My arms are open
My love, an ocean
Your tears are mine
Your healing in motion.
Don’t wait!
Just come—
My presence,
Your balm. . .
It’s overdue!
My time with you,
And I’m here!
So, just come.

“‘Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.’” (Matt. 11:28-29, ESV).
