*Author Note: So it’s February, and we northerners can find ourselves battling the winter blues. This little ditty is just meant for fun, although I know this issue becomes more serious the older we get!
Mid-Winter Ditty:
When Winter Ice Isn’t Nice!
Glancing out my windowpane Branches crashing down to lay Freezing solid in wild array, Awaiting dawn of warmer days. Fat and thickened flakes float down To cushion soft that icy ground; Don’t be fooled heading out Hidden ice is still about! Mailbox outing does entice, Down I slip and it’s not nice; Assessing bones, I stand upright Shaking from this body’s plight. Do take care in winter scene! Bitter cold may look serene... But underneath, that ice is keen To truly be some kind of mean! It snatches up to take you down Split-second throws you onto ground! A moment stunned, the only sound More frosty wind howling ‘round! Aching head and back now fight; Heating pad must now suffice. But thankful after icy curse… Fall could’ve been much worse! As cold, snow and ice keep reign All across our cold terrain, keep Eyes on blessings—that’s the thing! Thankfulness just keeps us sane.

The pictures of the tree is beautiful. But I know the danger lurking around. I lived my ten years in Wisconsin. Been there, down that on the slipping down on black ice or hidden ice.
I'm in Savannah GA now. We don't have to worry too often about this. But did recently get "snow". It's was really sleet. Days two and three afterward were the worst because the snow would start to melt and then freeze again.
The snow looked lovely from afar
But oh the work to clear my car.
Inches deep and frozen jewels
A mop and cane my only tools.
When I think I miss the sight
I find a pic and all seems right.
Living in Florida we don't have as much ice, but it's been a little colder this year.
As far as movies, if you haven't seen it Unsung Hero is fantastic. I would highly recommend it for family night.
